Reflections on the season

Advent has begun. The decorations are mostly up, plans are being made for getting together with friends, family dinners and such. It is a wonderful time of year. Of course it is a special time of year because Jesus Christ our Savior is born.

Last month I reflected on my personal tragedy, how devastating it was and how I was coping. What is getting me through is my walk with the Lord. He assures me that my loved one is with Him in heaven. He assured me that my dark days will be less and less. He assured me that I was here to be a light in this sometimes dark world.

This time of year isn’t as dark because of the bright lights and cheery greetings that you may not get any other time of year So I am approaching this season, without my loved one, but with the expectancy of the birth of Jesus Christ. This Jesus is with my loved one and that gives me contentment and peace.

So If you are facing this season with apprehension because of a change in your family or friends, know that God, through the Holy Spirit reaches out to you, to comfort you to help you turn a negative for you this time of year, into a time of thanks, a time of joy and a time to look forward and not backward.

I say the above because Christ is my Savior. If you do not know Jesus as your personal savior, I ask you now to bow your head, pray that Christ forgive you of your sins and ask Him to come into your life and guide you each and every day…if you do, this season will be one that you will never forget-it will be the first day of the rest of your life walking with Jesus. What a blessing that will be! Amen
