Who Created This World Anyway?

August 19, 2014

What are we to make of what is going on in this world today? From the strife between the Ukrainian people and the Russian separatists. To the renewing of the conflict in Iraq; to the continuing fight that Israel has with Hamas in Gaza; to the unrest and riots in our own Missouri town of Ferguson. On top of that the Ebola outbreak in Africa that threatens to spread throughout that country.

Some would say that all this is an indication that we are getting closer to the Rapture leading up to Christ’s return. But haven’t we had strife in the world since the beginning of time? There are always people trying to claim power and to access more land for themselves. There has always been danger in most every part of the world.

Christ has told us that we are in the world but not of it. So if we are gong to live in the world how are we going to to cope with what seems to be happening on a regular basis? How can we reach out to those factions, helping them see that God is a God of peace and he loves all of his creation?

The first thing we can do is live the Christian life. We can be a beacon of light in this dark world We can support missionaries and other Christian organizations that are doing good work all over the world. And we can support our Jewish brothers. I can’t imagine living in a country that most of the neighboring countries want them destroyed. Israel is not a waring nation and we need to stick up for their right to defend themselves.

And we can try to understand the peoples rights here at home. Isn’t it a shame that we don’t have to look beyond our borders to see injustice and strife. We need to pray for guidance in dealing with the racial divide in this country. We need to speak out as followers of Christ that all peoples are created equal and that God loves each of us and so should we. Maybe we can’t do anything in Ferguson, Mo., but we can do something in the community where we live, the people we come in contact with whether they be white, black, brown or yellow!

I believe we are at a point in our history that we need to put into action what Christ called us–to step up and in every forum we can and to everyone we come in contact with, preach the love of God through Christ. It means taking action to reach out to those that are oppressed or feel oppressed and show them that God loves them and so do we.

We can be God’s hands and feet and heart to spread His love to the world.
When will we shed our prejudices, our narrow attitudes, and really be a disciple for Christ? Well, now is the time!! In the name of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ.
